The Mill Hill chess team beat North London Collegiate School by 4 boards to 2 on Tuesday, without ever meeting their opponents. The innovative encounter took place online using a site that has been specially developed for school chess, and which will enable Mill Hill to play schools from well beyond the North London and Hertfordshire area. The match was close and the result hinged around events on Board 3, when Siddharth Kohli made a late error which almost cost him the game, but won when his opponent’s clock ran out of time. Mill Hill was represented by Simon Bai, David Gilbey, Siddharth Kohli, Gavin Lerner, Demetrios Skinitis and Sam Taylor.
