1st XV win Middlesex Knockout Shield

The 1st XV rugby team managed an excellent win in a very close final game last week against a very big, strong Sunbury Manor team from Twickenham. Belmont matched the big Sunbury pack in the early stages with some very courageous tackling backed up with some very intelligent kicking from Lewis L at fly half. Eventually, Pierce M made a timely interception to score a try just before half time which was converted by Lewis L. In the second half, captain Felix B kept his forwards going against the opposition pack but eventually their power resulted in a try under the posts from a rolling maul. A period of nail biting play resulted with the score all square until Belmont pushed deep into the Sunbury half and the defending backs crept offside, giving Lewis the chance to seal a victory with a pressure penalty. Result Belmont 10pts Sunbury 7pts.

Rugby 1st XV

Well done to an excellent team that has improved each game on the back of their summer tour to South Africa. Next stop is the National Prep Schools Tournament on Sunday March 1st where possibly, more success may follow.
