Not only was it Green Week this week but the Belmont Woods were opened up for the summer term so that children could enjoy the freedom of playing out in the woods during their lunch breaks. As part of Green Week children were also encouraged to Walk to School, and we had competitions and numerous lunchtime activities including an Electricity Audit and Bird Spotting. Other activities included a presentation from the Barnet Environmental Sustainability Team, a performance of ‘Bin Raider’ by the Quantum Theatre Group and a revamp of the Belmont Vegetable Gardens. The week ended with a ‘Wear Something Green’ day. All the events complemented the regular curriculum and the children also become far more environmentally aware.
