History and Art come to Life

This week Year 3 were metaphorically transported back to Ancient Egypt whilst Year 6 were literally transported to sunny Central London as part of their History and Art education.

Children in Year 3 were captivated by a series of interactive performances which illustrated how long ago the Ancient Egyptians died out, and how important the Nile was to them. During the afternoon they were also familiarised with some Egyptian words and characters!

In the meantime Year 6 children also benefitted from their educational visit to London. Firstly they visited the Museum of London where they studied artefacts from the Roman, Georgian and Victorian eras. The rest of the day was spent in the National Gallery where some of the pupils were lucky enough to meet one of the artists in residence, Ben Johnson, captured the children’s imaginations as he talked about his work and explained the inspiration behind some of his pieces of artwork.
