Girls’ Games Netball

The Year 6s have been deluged with netball recently, playing 16 matches in less than 24 hours at two different netball tournaments.

Friday saw the U11A netball team travel to The Forest School Netball tournament and play their first eight matches. Securing some convincing wins against strong schools, the Belmont team came third in their preliminary group, narrowly missing second place on goal difference. The teams were then regrouped based on these results and the Belmont team simply went from strength to strength, notching up a further three wins and a draw to convincingly win their group and ultimately come 11th out of the 23 schools in attendance.

It turned out that the afternoon of netball was to prepare them perfectly for a second tournament, this time hosted by North London Collegiate School, on Saturday. The team built on their successes of the previous day and the Belmont side won 3 and drew one of their preliminary matches seeing them placed in the top group for the finals. Facing some outstanding netball the Belmont team held their own and notched up one more win and a draw to secure and excellent 4th place out of the 20 schools there.

The girls played some exceptional netball across the two days and I am very proud of them, as I hope they are of themselves. My thanks to all the girls for they time and commitment and also to all parents and supporters!
