Madrid Tour

Art and Football joined forces in the half term holidays and visited the beautiful city of Madrid for an Art and Football experience. Both groups had a wonderful time and represented Belmont brilliantly in the Spanish capital. The Artists led by Mr McNulty, visited the Queen Sofia, Thyssen Bornemisza and Museo Del Prado. The group spent their days working through the excellent resources prepared by Mr McNulty and his team. In addition, a sight-seeing trip around the city and joining up with the Football group to watch Real Madrid versus Deportivo de La Coruña was a particular highlight.

The 1st and 2nd XI footballers had a wonderful experience staying at the Spanish FA headquarters where they even got the opportunity to meet Vincent Del Bosque, the Spanish manager. Each day the boys took part in training sessions at Athletico and Real Madrid as well as playing against Spanish opposition in two matches. The professional coaches were very complimentary of the boys’ footballing abilities and this was reflected in their performances on the pitch. In an action packed week there was still time to catch a La Liga match at the Santiago Bernabéu and take part in the stadium tour.
