On Monday, Transport for London came to Belmont for a road safety presentation to Year 6 as part of their PSHE curriculum. As our Year 6s begin to explore independent travel, our aim, along with TFL, is to promote safe, responsible and respectful behaviour on and around London’s transport system.
The hour long presentation was designed to engage children and to be interactive. The sessions focused on journey planning, getting help, awareness of dangers and personal safety. They included videos, images and role play to support the key points. Pupils had a chance to ask questions and build their confidence about becoming independent travellers in anticipation of their transfer to Year 7.
