World Maths Day

World Maths Day was upon us last Wednesday and to challenge our young minds years 5-8 were presented with an assortment of puzzles to test their powers of logic and deduction. Students competed in their year groups in house teams of 2-4 people – with so many mathematical areas covered by these fiendish puzzles such as problem solving, sequencing, spatial awareness and strategic planning, the pupils really had to concentrate to unlock the answers. Overall, the Angles were victorious with the blues triumphing in both Year 7 and Year 8. Saxons reigned supreme in Year 6 and the Danes won out in Year 5.

All the pupils tried really hard, and with so many exciting ways to explore maths on offer it is safe to say Maths at Belmont has never been more fun!
