Teen Tech Awards 2017

On Thursday 12 January, ten Fourth Form pupils accompanied Ms Banks and Mr Mckay to attend the 2017 Teen Tech Awards at the Emirates Stadium.

During the morning session the pupils were given an insight into the latest technology being used by companies and organisations. The pupils were very interested in the latest Virtual Reality technology being used by Google. Their ‘Expedition’ VR experience is an innovation which may change how lessons are taught and experienced in the future. The pupils also explored the world of industry and worked with teams from both Thames Water and Siemens to solve several complex engineering problems.

After a long-deserved lunch, the pupils entered the Teen Tech competition where they had to come up with an idea for a product or system, plan and make a presentation in front of about 400 people. The group were outstanding, they worked together as a team and organised themselves brilliantly to make an excellent presentation. In the end they won this section with ‘Best overall Gadget’ and were hugely praised for the creativity and problem solving. The team were also encouraged to enter the Teen Tech national competition with their idea.

Congratulations to all ten pupils!
