Nevinson Rediscovered

In November 2007 the School raised awareness of the work of the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation. This charity was founded in 1916 by theatrical impresario and philanthropist Sir Oswald Stoll to provide homes and support to vulnerable and disabled ex-servicemen and women. In 1917 Stoll asked the leading artists and writers of the day to donate a piece of work to help with the work of the charity. The highlight of this collection is this wonderful watercolour by C Nevinson depicting artillerymen on the Front Line. The picture had not been seen in public since the end of the First World War and was displayed at the School together with other pieces from the collection in support of Professor Gary Sheffield's lecture “Oh What Futile War”.
