The Road to St Albans

It is believed that a Roman road passed through Copthall Field leading to the major Roman settlement at Verulamium. As a result of a number of important archaeological finds, the Ridgeway has been designated an Area of Special Archeological Significance. Partly based on these finds, it seems likely that a Roman road passed through the nearby Copthall Fields leading to the major Roman settlement at Verulamium (St Albans).
