Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Portraitist and Old Millhillian Field Taulford was a great friend of the Brownings and was very much part of their circle. He drew this portrait of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and a companion portrait of Robert Browning in Rome in 1859. Robert Browning gave his portrait to his friend Edmund Gosse. Both portraits are now part of the collection of the National Portrait Gallery.
