Bravo 2 Zero: Andy McNab

Ex-SAS soldier Andy McNab, famous for his part in the Bravo 2 Zero mission in the first Gulf War, was interviewed about his life and work in front of a packed Large as part of the Mill Hill Lecture Series. Of particular interest to the audience, given recent events in Iraq, were Andy’s references to his time as a prisoner of war. He also provided a fascinating insight into the story of the Daily Mirror photos and Piers Morgan’s subsequent departure from the paper. The Andy McNab story is an extraordinary one. Despite leaving school with no qualifications, he is now one of Britain’s best selling authors. The story of how this came about, together with many references to his career as a soldier and newspaper columnist, kept the audience spellbound.

This is the third time that the soldier author has been to Mill Hill and it has been fascinating to see British Foreign Policy through the eyes of such a seasoned and experienced observer. One comment from a 6th Former was: Hearing Andy speak has really brought the realities of our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan to life. He is an inspirational and engaging lecturer.
