Ralph Warman

Scholar on Scott Walker Soundtrack

Helmore Scholar Ralph Warman joined us in September 2005. Recently, he has had the wonderful experience of singing on the soundtrack of 30 Century Man, the film biography of Scott Walker – himself one of the great voices of recent years. Ralph was a member of the Choir of the Chapel Royal St James’s, so it was entirely appropriate that he should have been awarded our major music scholarship in that year. It is named in honour of the extraordinary Helmore bothers who were pupils at Mill Hill in the early years of the nineteenth century. The Rev. Thomas Helmore was Master of the Children of the Chapel Royal. He had many distinguished pupils, including Sir Arthur Sullivan. Younger brother Professor Frederick Helmore was Choirmaster to the Prince Consort.
