Many British independent schools have in recent years opened offshoots in countries around the world. A number of schools have opened branches in China and it is interesting to note that as long ago as 1925 Millhillians were engaged in a similar project. This photograph shows a group of Old Millhillians at the Anglo-Chinese College in Tientsin, North China. The principal of the college, which shared Mill Hill’s motto, was Old Millhillian Dr Lavington Hart, seen here on the front row, far right. Seated in the centre of the front row is a distinguished visitor, Sir Albert Spicer, another ex-pupil of Mill Hill.
