In March 2007, the School theatre was renamed in honour of Patrick Troughton. Troughton is one of the most distinguished actors to have been a pupil at Mill Hill. Although best known for his portrayal of Doctor Who, he had a long and distinguished career in theatre, film and on television. As part of the naming ceremony, a group of Mill Hill theatre studies students presented audition pieces and excerpts from recent productions. Included in this group of pupils was Patrick Troughton’s grandson, Harry Melling, who is well known in the role of Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films. A surprise visitor on the evening was a dalek – probably the Doctor’s most famous adversary.
