Inspector Morse Was Here

TV’s Inspector Morse (John Thaw) could often be found enjoying a pint by the Mill Hill School cricket pavilion after having solved a crime. Morse is just one of a number of TV and film appearances for the School – famously Burton Bank and the groundsman’s cottage were locations in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and School House has featured in many TV series and films from the 1930s to the present day. These include Rosemary & Thyme, Waking the Dead, Mr Perrin and Mr Traill (1949).

Peter Tullo, Locations Manager of Rosemary & Thyme said:

“We wanted to do two genuine London shoots, and we ended up with Orpheus in the Undergrowth (Episode 2) in Ladbroke Grove, and then The Invisible Worm at Mill Hill School, which is in North London. Mill Hill was great – one side looks over the Ridgeway, and the other side looks over this lovely garden and has a great view of the city. We mixed and matched interiors and exteriors in other places, but almost all of our shooting was done at Mill Hill School. We found out when the school was closed for the summer, and then we worked that into the schedule.”
