The Mill Hill School Foundation has played a leading role in the local community for 200 years. As an educational charity and local employer the Foundation is keen to ever strengthen its links and provide support for the local community wherever possible.
We engage fully with local community groups and charities through educational and charitable activities. We provide financial assistance with fees to enable pupils from all socio-economic groups to attend the Foundation. Financial assistance is enjoyed by almost 20% of the current pupils. We provide public benefit by making our facilities available to pupils from the maintained sector, members of the local community and fund-raising activities by Charities. We provide venues for such events as the annual Mill Hill Music Festival and the Mayor of Barnet’s annual charity. Other Charities who use the Foundation facilities are Crohns and Colitis in Childhood and Aspire. We encourage the use of our facilities by such local community groups as the Mill Hill Residents Association, the Mill Hill Preservation Society and Mill Hill Synagogue. We have a strong relationship with St Paul’s Church and throughout the long period of its rebuilding and refurbishment we were pleased to assist the Church and congregation by making available the School Chapel for services of worship. As a School we are keen to assist our neighbour schools in the delivery of the curriculum by the sharing of information and ideas and the use of our facilities. Among the schools with which we are involved are St Paul’s Church of England School, whose sports day we host, St Vincent’s School and Oak Lodge School where we assist in the delivery of their Sports curriculum. The Foundation Chaplain provides chaplaincy services to local maintained schools as well.
The Foundation ‘community’ extends beyond the local area to include support of Alford House a youth centre in Lambeth and our partnership schools in Ethiopia, Nicaragua and Tamil Nadu through voluntary outreach activity and our teacher exchange programme with Baroda High School in India. We provide financial support for the education of children who had been orphaned by the Boxing Day 2004 Tsunami at the Sri Jayendra School in India.
