Valedictory Service 2011

Doves being released

On Wednesday 25 May the School bid a final farewell to the current Upper Sixth, many of whom attended the Foundation since they were at Grimsdell.

The celebrations began at 10:00am with a reception in the Dining Hall where pupils, parents and guardians alike thoroughly enjoyed the special electronic display of leavers’ portraits commissioned as part of the Leavers’ Yearbook. The vast majority of the photographs were taken by fellow pupils who followed a brief of creating a collection of artistic character portraits.

This was followed by a formal celebration in the Chapel during which the names of all Upper Sixth leavers were read aloud by their Housemaster or Housemistress.

The event culminated with the planting of a commemorative Bird Cherry Tree, kindly donated by parents Mr and Mrs Webster, and will then release a group of doves from Top Terrace as a symbol of the year group moving on beyond Mill Hill to the next phase in their lives.

The School bids a fond farewell to this year’s Upper Sixth pupils and wishes them success, health and happiness for the future.
