This week in Reception…

This week in Reception we became scientists!

We started the week with an amazing assembly where Professor Pea and Professor Nut launched the start of Science Week.

Throughout the week we have been taking part in so many activities where we have begun to explore the world around us and question why things happen and how things work. In our classes, we read a story about the animals Naughty Nora and Discovery Dog who set us a challenge of planting some seeds to make some new plants. All Reception classes planted some cress seeds and monitored them throughout the week, making observations and recording them in their own cress diary. We have also looked at mixing colours, making telescopes in the boat with different colour cellophanes and independently mixing paint and making marks with tools that do not include paintbrushes.

We welcomed some of the grown-up children from Mill Hill into our classrooms where we did experiments with them and looked at different chemicals and the effects they have on materials. We loved decorating chicks and rabbits with them.

We also had a Sublime Science Workshop where we were fully engaged with all the new facts we were learning and also made our own SLIME!!

A huge thank you to Mrs Patel for organising such a great week.
