Year One have been extremely busy this week learning new phonics sounds and spellings as well as practising our handwriting starting shapes. On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of having our first ‘Dots’ mindfulness session with Ms Moir and practised breathing in through our noses and out through our mouths.
Some of us also experienced a very wet Forest School session on Tuesday morning, but we didn’t let it phase us and had smiles on our faces all the way there and back. We crushed wild blackberries in water to make purple paint and we also used charcoal to make black paint. Some of us then chose to do some tree painting with it.
Science was great fun as we worked collaboratively in small groups to draw around our bodies and identify and name all of our body parts. We thought carefully about how our different body parts help us and gave some very good examples.
