This Week in Year 2!

Year 2 have had another great week concluding our unit on ‘The Pea and the Princess’. Performing the Freeze Frames of certain parts of the story caused much excitement and the children got into character and used their emotions to capture these key moments.

We finished our story mountain and sequencing of the story to help us plan the retelling of our story. This piece of writing incorporated all the knowledge gained in our grammar lessons we have learnt his term- sentence structure, nouns, verbs and the power of 3. The children applied all this previous information into writing an excellent recount of the story.

In Science, we concluded our fair test pea plant experiment and the children wrote up their results task. It was interesting to hear the children’s discussions about what they had predicted previously and they agreed that plants need light and water to grow efficiently!

After our wonderfully vibrant African experience last week, the children were lucky to be part of a BHM creative workshop by Big Foot. The focus was on celebrating achievements and highlighting that within our national history, Black people are fundamental to creating the fabric of our society and the rich tapestry of who we are today. The highlight of the week was our ‘Marvellous Middle’ tea party in keeping with our London theme. The children made and ate a selection of food including cupcakes, jelly, Eton Mess and cucumber sandwiches. Following these culinary delights, the whole of KS1 were treated to a real-life Punch and Judy show by the brilliant, Mr Marvel.
