This week in Reception…

What a busy, yet fun week we have had in Reception!

In Circle Time this week, we have continued to talk about our feelings and use the story of ‘The Colour Monster’ to understand our emotions. Every morning we have placed our named lollipops in the jar relating to how we are feeling that day. Throughout the day we can change our lollipop into another jar if our feelings change. We are sharing our thoughts and feelings much more with our friends and teachers.

In maths this week we have continued our learning of 2D and 3D shapes. We have taken part in many activities that involve shape. We have been on 3D shape hunts around the school environment, created funny shape monsters, took on the challenge to find out if the 3D shapes: roll, stack, or slide. Great work Reception!

In Phonics we have learned our first trigraph ‘igh’. The children went on a hunt outside to find the words containing the trigraph using torches and we have learned another new Rainbow Word ‘the’. We have been focusing on using the Rainbow Words within a sentence.

The children were amazed on Friday morning as a REAL SQUAD CAR was parked in the carpark! Along with a Police Officer PC Hamilton-Chan. We were able to explore the car inside and out and even hear the sound of the siren! We asked the Police Officer questions about his role in the Police Force. Thank you Mr Hamilton-Chan, this was the best surprise!
