Rising Temperatures, Healthy Minds and French Exchange

Dear Parents

As the temperature has continued to rise in the House of Commons this week we have also been enjoying some warmer temperatures over the last few days. The spring sun has shone and our grounds are starting to look beautiful. It was a pleasure finding 10 minutes to walk around the school this lunchtime and to see the children enjoying the facilities. Whether playing cricket in the nets, netball and football on the Astro courts or just enjoying the sunshine around the site there was a lovely atmosphere and lots of happy boys and girls.

Healthy Mind and Healthy Body

Miss Goldthorpe and Mr Davies-Horne led assembly on Monday to remind the children about the importance of a balanced diet and exercise to not only enhance physical health but also improve mental health and increase concentration levels. A number of teachers were good enough to participate as blind tasting volunteers trying a range of foods from blueberries, avocado, mackerel and Haribos to illustrate the point, much to the children’s amusement. The PE department will also be creating a Fit 4 Belmont noticeboard where the children can bring in pictures to celebrate the huge range of activities that they are involved in outside of school.

We will be building on this important theme next term in the week commencing the 29^th April. Mr Symes has arranged our second annual Wellbeing Week and it promises to be brilliant. From smoothie bikes, superfood lunches and a range of different wellbeing experts visiting the school, children, staff and parents will have an opportunity to learn more about the importance of wellbeing. Y7 and Y8 French Exchange

38 Year 7 and 8 pupils left for the French Exchange on Monday and they have been staying with host families in Rouen until next Monday. They have also enjoyed some lovely weather and enjoyed visits to Bayeux and Rouen. We wish them an enjoyable weekend and a safe journey back next week.
