We are delighted to confirm that Mill Hill School will be working with the prestigious Leiths School of Food and Wine in London from October 2017. We have just gained the franchise to offer the challenging 5 term cookery course ‘Basic Certificate in Food and Wine’. Great news for those Mill Hill boys and girls who have signed up for this. Certainly the parental and student response to this has been very positive: “This is great news! Thanks for all your efforts organizing this wonderful and extremely practical enrichment programme”.
Cookery is just one part of the extended enrichment programme now on offer in our Sixth Form; the choice available includes coding, political debate, medicinal chemistry through to an introduction to “maya” and animation. Students attend both a study skills lesson in preparation for writing their own Extended Project and a lecture each week given by an outside speaker.
The focus of this enrichment programme is to develop those key soft skills that industry is crying out for in its new recruits: resilience, leadership, curiosity, creativity, confidence and thinking skills. These activities are balanced by our firm focus on academic study. This year we saw our A level grades rise yet again, and the university places gained by our students were impressive. Five head off to Oxford and Cambridge, others to UCL, Imperial, the Courtauld Institute and NYU, and similar prestigious universities.
We hope that with the combination of cookery, coding and a great set of A level grades, our students will be ready for the world ahead of them!
