Who would you most like to meet out of David Beckham, Her Majesty The Queen, and HRH Duchess of Sussex – formerly known as Megan? For one of our alumni, she had the chance this week to meet all three at the same time, and many more distinguished people of all ages and backgrounds.
As we head off into the summer sunshine at the end of our term, I left our school community reflecting on the achievements of one of our alumni, Leanne Armitage, whose achievements led her to meet such a group of people. Leanne was this week in all the papers as she received her Queen’s Young Leaders Award from Her Majesty The Queen. Do check out @queensyoungleaders Instagram account to find photos of the occasion!
My reflection with the school community today was how Leanne has put into practice in a very real sense the essence of our school motto – “et virtutem et musas” – or instilling values, inspiring minds. She leads her life based on a strong belief that she should use her skills to help others, and by running her classes to attract new recruits from under represented social groups to the medical profession, she is certainly inspiring minds.
I encouraged our pupils today to think of what they feel called to achieve and how Mill Hill School can help in this.
On behalf of the School we say a huge well done to Leanne for the work that she has done, and the way that she brought the Mill Hill ethos to life!
