Head’s blog
Twelve weeks into the first term and pupils at The Mount, Mill Hill International are busy thinking about where they will be next year, what they will be studying and, for many, which university they might wish to apply to. It’s a tall order to expect our international pupils to have a clear vision of their future when many have barely got to grips with school life in the UK.
At the Opportunities Fair yesterday at Mill Hill School our Year 11 pupils were trying to understand what options are available to them and which subject choices to make at A level. There are so many preconceived ideas about which A levels are the best to take and it is important to sort myth from reality. The good news is that there is still plenty of time to decide and much good advice if sought. How lucky, then, that there is help at hand: at Mill Hill School, Lesley Sharples, Head of University and Post School Guidance offers detailed support in helping pupils make such choices.
Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, believes the choices you make shape your life.
“When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices.”
