McClure

‘The House aims to create an atmosphere which is both nurturing and positive in its approach with a ‘can do’ attitude.’

McClure House was named after Sir John McClure, Headmaster of the School at the turn of the 20th century. Established in 1971, it is situated in the West wing of the School, near to Atkinson and Murray House. The House prides itself on its home from home environment, offering pastoral care to the highest order and providing pupils with a sense of identity within the School.

McClure has had a great deal of success over the past few years winning many events such as the House Hockey and becoming runner-up in the House General Knowledge to name a few. Three pupils in the last five years have gone on to study at Cambridge and, two pupils have been appointed Senior Monitors for 2017-18. We are a creative, fun-loving and caring house that offer numerous teambuilding events outside of school during the course of any one year. This year the fourth form and remove went bowling, the upper sixth and lower sixth went to laser quest and the upper sixth and fifth form had the annual black tie dinner. We are hoping to see more success in the coming years and more integration between year groups within the House.
