Sixth Formers Raise Chinese Earthquake Relief Funds

Following the earthquake in Sichuan province in China last month, a group of Sixth Form students, helped by Mr. Luke, set up a display in the Octagon to raise awareness amongst Mill Hill pupils of the disaster. The images and stories displayed ranged from the harrowing to the uplifting as we saw the despair of individual suffering within many family units, and the occasional miraculous tale of survival. Many of those who died were schoolchildren, which had a particular resonance to our pupils. By manning the stand throughout the week our pupils were able to collect approximately £200 in cash which went to the Relief Fund at the Chinese Embassy. In addition a letter that was sent to parents requesting a donation is believed to have raised a further £1,000. Further donations are welcomed – please contact Mr Andy Luke.
