The programme of Physical Education (PE) and Games is designed to provide every pupil with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports. Pupils in the Fourth Form have a double PE lesson and a double Games lesson per week. The PE lessons are in mixed classes; the Games lessons are organised separately for boys and girls.
PE lessons cover a varied curriculum including swimming, ball skills, health & fitness, badminton, trampolining and athletics. In the Remove and Fifth Form, in addition to a weekly PE lesson for all pupils, GCSE Sport and PE is available as an option subject. The major boys’ team games vary each term where they participate in hockey, rugby and cricket respectively during the year.
The major girls’ team games vary each term, and they participate in hockey, netball, rounders and tennis during the year.
There is a full programme of school fixtures at all levels in these games, for both boys and girls.
Throughout the PE and Games programmes, full use is made of the School facilities including the sports hall, Astroturf pitch, swimming pool, tennis/netball courts and the School’s extensive playing fields.
