Design Technology

Building on previously covered skills and knowledge, Design and Technology at secondary level focuses on the use of more sophisticated resourcing, including; specialist teaching environments, manufacturing equipment and a more individual approach to problem solving. Pupils can make use of a dedicated Computer Aided Manufacturing suite, a Computer Aided Design area containing 30 high specification machines, a spacious graphics studio as well as electronics lab and general workshop. Design and Technology engages pupils from all backgrounds, firing their creativity as they engage with designing and making products that solve real-life problems, whilst considering the needs, wants and values of identified clients. To do this effectively, pupils will develop a good level of subject knowledge as well as drawing on an understanding of additional disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art.
