Rachel Jakeman

Rachel Jakeman, Murray Housemistress

Rachel Jakeman was born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, where she attended a local school. On leaving school, Rachel attended the University of Bedfordshire to study a degree in Sports Therapy. She there left in 2008 and attended the University of Middlesex to complete her postgraduate certificate in Teaching, specialising in physical education. Rachel started her career at a co-educational comprehensive in Hertfordshire. During the first two years of teaching, Rachel completed an MA in education with the University of Hertfordshire.

Rachel came to Mill Hill in 2012 as Head of Girls’ Games. She has continued to coach numerous sports, but her passion is netball, in which she is the 1st Vll Coach. In 2013, Rachel was appointed as Head of PSHRE and in 2015 Rachel became School House Senior Tutor. Finally this year, 2016, Rachel was appointed as the Housemistress of Murray House.

Additional to teaching, Rachel has also been involved in numerous trips, and on occasions taken the lead. Most recently in 2015 leading the Tag Rugby Partnership trip to Zambia and the year before, 2014, a senior netball tour to Malta.

Rachel is a keen sports woman and continues to play netball at county level. She is a qualified Netball coach and work with the Hertfordshire County and Satellite netball academies. She enjoys spending her free time watching films or TV dramas and spending time with friends and family.
