Weekend and Exeat Information for Boarders

Dear Parents and Guardians

Term dates are published at least one year in advance; this allows parents and guardians plenty of time to arrange tickets to and from School. It is crucial that tickets are booked in good time so that pupils do not miss important lessons, meetings and social events at the beginning and the end of each term. Term dates must therefore be adhered to unless circumstances are exceptional. In such cases, if the date of travel involves an absence of more than 24 hours before the published term dates, permission must be sought directly from me by letter, fax or email before tickets are purchased.

As a general rule, parents and guardians must clarify all pick-up and return arrangements with the appropriate Housemaster before a pupil leaves School at the end of term. This includes parents who live locally as we clearly need to know, for Health and Safety reasons and in order that we can appropriately exercise our duty of care, when pupils are due to depart from and return to their respective Houses. I would be grateful, therefore, if you could ensure that you complete the relevant form at the end of each term and forward to the appropriate Housemaster. Copies of this form are available through Housemasters and can be downloaded here from the Boarding section of the School website. The form should also be used by parents and guardians for weekend exeat arrangements.

Do, please, contact me if you wish to discuss or clarify any of the issues raised in this letter; I am sure you will appreciate, in the interests of all our pupils, why it so important that formal arrangements are always appropriate to their welfare and security.

With best wishes,

Lindsey Farrant
Director of Boarding
