Richard Peat, Ridgeway Housemaster
Ridgeway House is run by Richard Peat, a composer who completed his doctorate in composition at City University in 2006. A graduate of the Teach First Scheme, Richard has taught at Millfield School (Master i/c Composition and Sixth-form Senior Tutor), Walthamstow Hall (Director of Music and Assistant Head of Sixth), St Mary’s Ascot and City University. His research interests include the representation of children in opera, the harpsichord in contemporary classical music and the music of Latvian composer Peteris Vasks. In his spare time Richard continues to compose, enjoys dog walking and has a love of all things film and cinema related.
Richard was appointed as Housemaster of Ridgeway House in September 2016 and also teaches music at Mill Hill. He is married to Jess, who teaches Russian at St Paul’s Girls’ School, and they have a young dog called Chelsea.
