The Physical Education Programme offered at Mill Hill aims to promote enjoyment for physical activity and develop a positive approach towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is complimented by the extensive Games and Activities programme offered at the School and use of the on-site facilities including an indoor swimming pool, indoor sports hall and extensive playing fields.
In the 4th, Remove and 5th Form, pupils experience a variety of activities including swimming, water polo, life-saving, badminton, trampolining, volleyball, athletics and health related fitness. Throughout the curriculum pupils not only develop their physical skills but also their officiating, coaching and analysis within performance.
In addition to curriculum PE, pupils are offered the opportunity to study GCSE Physical Education which involves the application of theory and practical assessment in 4 chosen sports. This has been a popular introduction since September 2006.
In the Sixth Form an increasing number of pupils are opting to follow the successful AS and A2 courses in Sport and Physical Education, since its introduction in 2001. The course is largely theory-based, covering a variety of aspects surrounding Sport (psychological, anatomical, historical and social), enabling pupils to explore a breadth of subject matter. Pupils are also assessed in coursework and chosen practical elements.
