Gold Award for Science Student

Congratulations to Flora Lai who was awarded the first prize in the Gold Award Class of the Crest Awards, a national scheme run by the British Association for the Advancement of Science to encourage excellence in practical science.

Flora was also awarded a prestigious Nuffield Science Research Bursary and joined a research team studying lateral line development of the zebra fish at the National Institute of Medical Research in Mill Hill. The results generated from this month of research formed the basis of her project for the Crest Award. As part of the assessment process, Flora attended an evaluation day at Imperial College where she presented her research work and was quizzed by many senior academics.

Flora is obviously a talented biologist, since she received a Highly Commended Award in the Biology Olympiad after only a single term of study in her A Level course.
