Sports Teams Success

The term has been an incredibly successful one for all of our sports teams, especially the girls 1st XI hockey team and boys 1st XV rugby.

1st XV Rugby Team

The hockey team had already proven their ability by winning the County Cup and through this gained entry to the national finals. The girls were fantastic; they exceeded expectation and were a real credit to the school. They finished 4th out of seven schools, winning two matches, drawing two and narrowly losing two against what turned out to be the top two schools.

A big thank you to all the girls who trained so hard all year to achieve this amazing result – we can be proud of them all. The team had four Remove girls who all played fantastically on the day: Katie Newton, who scored a vital goal; Izzy list who was incredible all day – mature beyond her years; Jess Perkins who fought and ran her heart out all day, and Natalie Holmes who made a series of fine saves. Emma Kirk was outstanding all day, Sonja Edwards had a brilliant tournament playing very well against some international defenders, while Katie Ardrey held the team together with a fine display of composed hockey. Katie Woodrow captained the side all day and can be proud of her team.

Girls 1st XI Hockey Team

After a hugely successful tour of New Zealand, the 1st XV have suffered just one defeat all season and are the current holders of the Middlesex Cup. This is a marked contrast with last season when the team only won three games. The whole team have performed magnificently throughout the term, with each player contributing to the deserved success. On an individual note, we are very proud that Robbie Martey has recently been selected for the South East rugby squad; well done.

The Under 16s rugby squad keep rolling on, defeating all in their path. Their unbeaten run now stretches to three years.
