Best Ever A Level Results

Exam Results

We are delighted to be celebrating the achievement of the 2008 leavers who have secured the best A level results in the School’s history with an overall 100% pass rate. 70% of this year’s A level entries were graded A or B, up from 64% last year, and 89% were awarded grade C or above, compared to 86% in 2007. As a result of these outstanding results, the majority of leavers will now go on to take up places at their first choice universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, University College London, Kings’ College London, Durham, Bristol, Warwick and Nottingham. Meanwhile, all of those pupils holding conditional offers from Oxford and Cambridge have obtained the A level grades needed to secure their places. This year’s GCSE results also represent a record for Mill Hill. 51% of papers were graded A*/A, up from 45% last year. A*-C grades were also up, from 93% in 2007 to 97% this year. These are excellent results, a credit to teachers and pupils alike.

The grades obtained this year are all the more impressive in view of the many other outstanding achievements witnessed in so many areas during the course of the year. These include the most successful rugby, girls’ hockey, cricket, golf and swimming seasons for many years, the superb output of the School’s music, art and drama departments and a wealth of other memorable events such as April’s cross-Foundation Fashion Show.

The School would like to congratulate all of its Upper Sixth leavers upon their excellent examination performances. We look forward to seeing them go on to further success in their education and careers. For those returning to or joining us in September, these results and the AS results, which also broke all previous records, are clearly cause for great confidence in the future.
