1st XV Achieve Unbeaten Season

Tennis PlayerThe 1st XV victory has rounded off an exceptional sporting year where we have seen notable successes in many other disciplines such as golf, hockey, tennis and even chess!
Jim RobertsOld Millhillian Jim Roberts (pictured here at Lansdowne Road as part of the British Lions team) was present to support the team on Saturday and witness this incredible achievement.

After a very close-fought match in atrociously wet conditions, the 1st XV emerged victorious over Merchant Taylors’ on Saturday, winning 11-0 (scoring one try (Hugo Watson) and two penalties (Ollie Bass)). As a result, and for the first time since 1950, the XV have enjoyed an unbeaten season, winning all of their fixtures except for one (an early-season draw against Stowe). They also retained the Middlesex County Championship. Thank you to all of those who braved the elements to support the XV and the many OMs and others who sent messages of support and good wishes (which, in the manner of the best man at a wedding, I read to the team at lunch before the match). I know that the captain, Sebastian Delamothe, and the side very much appreciated knowing that they were in the thoughts of supporters on at least four continents, including many of Mill Hill’s past sporting greats.

Mill Hill 1st XV

I hope that you all have a very happy, restful and relaxing Christmas.

With all best wishes,
