Christmas Letter from The Head

The School closes on Tuesday 16th December with final Assembly and an opportunity to celebrate the many successes of the children this term.

A variety of seasonal events have taken place including a Christmas Concert, Carol Services, Christmas Lunches and the Friends of Belmont ‘Winter Wonderland’. The Year 3 production ‘The Christmas Crises’ demonstrated how Belmont children, from many different schools originally, are all now working together as a team. The play included songs from characters such as the Mob, the Elves, the Toys, the Children, the Evil Witches and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Year 4 also delighted their audience with ‘Let’s do a Nativity’ a comic play about children staging their own production. This was an exceptional group effort, which impressed the audience so much that a repeat performance took place! On a slightly less seasonal but equally important note, members of Mill Hill School Anti-Bullying and Mentors’ Council led an assembly for Years 7 and 8. Incorporated into the service was a short play, acted by a group of boarders, in which the seriousness of the effects of bullying was stressed.

On the sports front this term all teams played well. The 1st XV, however, played magnificently and reached the final of the Middlesex Rugby Cup, but due to illness which swept the school of their opposition Sunbury Manor, the game had to be deferred until next term. All the girls have played in netball matches this term and highlights included a notable victory against Henrietta Barnett and the Belmont Sports Festival. Well done to everyone.

The Spring term starts at 8.20 on Wednesday 7 January 2009. In the meantime I wish all our Staff, Pupils and Parents a very peaceful holiday and a happy New Year.
