As soon as they began crushing up charcoal to write their name in hieroglyphics, Year 3 knew their day at Belmont was going to be a little unusual. Celebrating all things Ancient Egypt, our children enthusiastically took to learning the skills essential for life on the banks of the river Nile, from pressing olives to extract the oil to creating canopic jars from clay. In the afternoon, all their hard efforts paid off with a big celebratory banquet complete with a Pharaoh and Queen who oversaw the rest of their servants… sorry classmates, as they enjoyed the dance performances and the wine (blackcurrant juice) and food (pitta bread) on offer.
