Brighton Rugby Tour

Year 5 & 6 traveled down to Brighton on Friday for the annual Brighton Rugby Tour continuing our excellent relationship with Brighton College and Crawley RFC. The group started their weekend at the beautiful grounds of Brighton College and certainly started on a high winning both the games. The U10 match was a comfortable win for Belmont with the entire team contributing to a comprehensive result. The U11 squad faced a tougher challenge however overcoming a strong Brighton side. Excellent work from the boys resulted in a 55 – 45 win.

The group headed to Brighton pier in the evening before checking in to the hotel for an early night. The boys were up early on Saturday for a morning training session followed by rock climbing at the K2 leisure complex. This was a great opportunity for the boys to develop their teamwork skills as they were all responsible for each others safety and motivating everyone to the top. This was followed by an entertaining trip to the bowling alley!

The final day of tour took us to Crawley RFC where we took part in a joint training session before playing against their respective age groups. This was an incredibly competitive match that again resulted in 2 wins for Belmont. The U10’s dominated Crawley U10’s with some outstanding performances. Our U11 squad started positively putting us in the lead and further tries came before Crawley finally scored their first and only try. A heroic man of the match performance ensured a good 15 – 5 win for Belmont.

It was fantastic to see so many parents had made the journey down to support Belmont and we are very grateful for this continued support. All the boys had a fantastic weekend and although they were a little tired by the time we returned to school on Sunday afternoon we had a fantastic tour successful on all fronts!
