A parent in Year 1, came in to read ‘Room on the Broom’ in Scots to Year 1. This was part of the Year 1 topic on The UK. We talked about accents and then about some of the different words in Scottish – ‘bizum’ is a broom, a ‘puddock’ is a frog, ‘nae’ means no, ‘doon’ means down and ‘ay’ means yes. It was lovely to hear the story read by someone from Scotland. We were very grateful for her time.
