30 Years On, Leavers’ Reunion 2018

Thank you to everyone who came to our 1987 and 1988 Leavers’ Reunion on Saturday. It was wonderful to see old friends reconnect, share memories and even resurrect the school-yard banter. Alumni were delighted to see so many of their former teachers, including Alastair Graham and Tim Stringer; even Freddie made an appearance. 64 people, including spouses, partners and staff, enjoyed the day.

Intrepid tour parties braved the rain to take in their old haunts around the Quad and discover new ones like the Favell Building and the Sixth Form Centre. We visited Houses, classrooms, labs and libraries and in each one there lay an amusing story from the 80s: explosions in the labs, practical jokes on Top Terrace and some eccentric teaching methods in the classrooms!

After a delicious three-course lunch (probably tastier than that which might have been served in the Dining Room in 1987), the Head, Mrs Frances King, welcomed guests and presented the School as it is today, reiterated its ethos, which might not have changed so very much, and mapped out its exciting vision for the future.
