Lower School Poetry Recital

The standard of this year’s finalists was certainly impressive. All of the competitors showed great confidence and are to be commended for their expressive delivery and enjoyable performances. There was a great selection of poems. Special mention goes to Louis Silver, Winner of Year 4, who had written his own poem in honour of his grandma. Josh Lacey Author Visit

This year we were lucky enough to start off our Reading Week with a visit from the author Josh Lacey, writer of the entertaining and humorous Dragonsitter and A Dog called Grk series. He spoke to all of Lower School and the children listened intently as he read extracts from his books, spoke about what inspires him and gave a few important tips on writing stories. He also led a series of workshops in English lessons. Lower School were keen to ask questions and proved to be an excellent audience. Some of the children were also able to buy signed copies of his books. It was a great way to start off the week.

Lower School  World Book Day

The costumes certainly did not disappoint this year. As always, despite the Beast from the East, the children and staff in Lower School entered into the spirit of the day. Thank you especially to all you parents who put such effort into the costumes and if you were able to watch our parade you would have seen such a range of colourful characters. Days like these are always so memorable and such fun for the children. It hopefully encourages them to think about all the wonderful stories and adventures to be found in books. As Dr Seuss said “ The more you read, the more you know. The more you know, the more places you’ll go.”
