The Music Scholars’ Final Concert

The first Monday of term was host to the last Scholars’ Concert of the school year. It was, as ever, a pleasure to hear such a wide array of performances of all kinds of genres. These ranged from pop drum kit performances to classical piano sonatas and a variety of chamber music. Particular highlights included Ellen Baumring-Gledhill’s dramatic and lyrical performance of Suk’s Ballade, and Yasmin Adewusi’s crisp interpretation of Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Sonata, where she particularly captured the humour in the music, aided by some very effective dynamic contrasts. On a personal note, it was a bittersweet pleasure to give my final performance in a Scholars’ Concert and I shall always look back fondly at the many opportunities I have had to perform at Mill Hill.
