Having visited the 1807 Society recently I was gripped by the enthusiasm and drive the pupils had as they excitedly chatted through the draft content of their next edition of the Magazine which is due out in a couple of weeks. The Society which is under the guidance of Mr Mark Dickinson, Head of History, is attended mainly by Sixth Form historians who are interested in studying the subject beyond Mill Hill. With Upper Sixth pupils Mina Saad, Josh Koffman and Mikael Hameed taking the lead, the Society enables pupils to discuss their choice of historical topics, issues and theories beyond the confines of the taught syllabus and present them in a beautiful glossy magazine; this will be the fourth edition. The Society also teaches pupils some of the concepts of desktop publishing, design and editing. Make sure you get hold of a copy of the next edition, and if you are a Lower School pupil inspired by History as a subject, then please go and speak with Mr Dickinson about getting involved – he may invite you in to hear some of the thought-provoking discussions.
