Arkley Junior Golf competition
Rearranged from its original date in March due to the snow and ice, Belmont entered 2 teams for this annual event that is kindly hosted by Arkley Golf Club. The course was in great condition and we played under clear blue skies. As reigning champions we were under pressure to retain the shield, but we could do no better than 4th, out of 14, with the Belmont B Team (Louis, Nikhil and Moustafa). More hours needed at the practice ground I think! Well done to Ben though for winning the Nearest The Pin competition, putting his tee shot to about 12 feet from the pin on the challenging 2nd hole.

The Gubby Allen Trophy
As winners of the U13 Middlesex Cup last summer, we qualified for this prestigious trophy against the winners from the London schools competition, City of London School. It was great to welcome back some Old Belmontians (now in Year 9 at Mill Hill) to the side as this was an U14 fixture. Captain Jed won the toss and elected to bat first and we posted a very competitive 192-4 from our 30 overs. Rohan top scored with a solid 50 not out, supported by a well-crafted 40 form George and an aggressive 40 from Ethan. We looked sharp and organised in the field and once we had removed City’s top 4, to some good catching, bowling, and sharp wicket keeping from Alex, there was only going to be one winner and City of London eventually succumbed to 110 all out. Well done to all the boys and good luck for a successful remainder of the season; our defence of the U13 Cup starts against Latimer School in the coming weeks and of course we have our 8-a-side competition this weekend.
