Meet the Newest Member of our Senior Cricket Programme

Mill Hill School are excited to welcome Australian pupil Sam Bogiatizis from the Sunshine Coast Grammar School in Queensland. Sam has joined us for the term to experience life and Cricket in the northern hemisphere. The School are subsequently investigating the potential of sending sporting pupils on a return visit in Summer 2019 and making a formal exchange programme between the two schools. Below are a few light hearted questions to help us get to know our most recent addition to the Senior Cricket programme.

Why did you come to England?

I came to England for mainly cricketing purposes, but also to experience a new culture and meet new people.

How long are you here for?

I am just here for the summer (cricket) term and will be going back to Australia at the end of the term.

What does your day consist of?

During the first two lessons of the day I am in classes, then I spend the rest of the day either training, coaching other teams or helping out in cricket game lessons with the head cricket coach at Mill hill, Mr Patel.

Which House are you in?

I am currently lucky enough to be staying in Burton Bank.

Cricket aspirations at Mill Hill?

As an all-rounder, an ideal season would be to score a hundred or take a five-wicket haul.

Favourite sportsman:

My favourite sportsman in Usman Khawaja, for those who don’t know who he is: he is an Australian cricketer.

Where do you live in Australia?

I live on the east coast of Queensland, on the ‘Sunshine Coast’. The Sunshine Coast is a 2-hour drive north from the Gold Coast, where the Commonwealth games just took place.

What is your school like in Australia?

I go to a private school called Sunshine Coast Grammar School. Sunshine Coast Grammar School is very different from Mill hill, as it has only been around for 21 years and doesn’t offer boarding.

What is your opinion on the Australian Cricket Scandal?

To be honest, I think that the players acted poorly and out of the spirit of the game.

What is your favourite brand of sandpaper?

Flex-o-vit is my favourite brand, and the coarser p60 variation is ideal for ball tampering.
