Our New Aerospace Activity

Lower Sixth pupil Daniel Hildebrand (School), assisted by Fifth Form pupil Issy Nash (Murray), have introduced a new Aerospace activity running Wednesday lunchtimes in DT. Over the past few weeks club members have focused on designing, building and learning to fly a radio controlled micro-class quadcopter. Pilots will control the drone using First Person View (FPV) which involves wearing goggles that have a video feed, showing the view as seen from the cockpit of the quadcopter.

Initial designs have been printed using the DT departments suite of 3D printers and early trials look promising. Looking forward, the club would like to compete against entries from other schools in Head to Head and Capture The Flag races. Daniel, a keen rocketeer, wants to study Aerospace Engineering at university.
